The 52th anniversary of ASEAN in Ottawa

August 8th, 2019: ASEAN diplomatic missions in Ottawa, including Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam solemnly celebrated the 52nd anniversary of the founding of the Association of Southeast Asia Nations – ASEAN. In his capacity as the current Chairman of ASEAN Committee in Ottawa, Indonesian Ambassador to Canada, H.E. Abdul Kadir Jailan delivered remarks, highlighting ASEAN’s important contributions to regional peace, stability, and prosperity in the last 52 years. ASEAN will continue to strengthen cooperation, build up a strong ASEAN community, and commit to working with the international community to promote rule of law.

Attending the ceremony were ambassadors, chargé d’affaires of ASEAN’s member countries to Canada, representatives from Global Affairs Canada and some ASEAN’s dialogue partners including Japan, New Zealand, India, and Russia.
